Summary of Community Meeting 5

The Office of Community Development (OCD-DRU) Team coordinated the fifth Isle de Jean Charles Community Meeting at the Pointe-aux-Chenes Fire Station from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 4 and 5, 2018. The team conducted individual household interviews with former and current Isle de Jean Charles residents on May 4 and the morning of May 5, followed by a public open house on the afternoon of May 5. Sixty-seven participants, mostly current and former island residents, attended the meeting. The goals of this meeting were:
1. Gather preferences to develop a site design and record questions about design
2. Inspire hope and excitement surrounding the new community
3. Provide detailed, concrete, and transparent information on the project’s progress
4. Answer attendee questions
